Eva Mendes has landed on the cover of what is considered to be the fashion bible, Vogue.
Famed photographer Steven Meisel asked the 34-year-old Cuban-American actress to pose for Italian Vogue after they worked together on Calvin Klein’s upcoming perfume and underwear ads earlier this year.
In this sampling of the retro inspired photographs, Mendes channels one of Italy’s biggest exports, Hollywood film icon Sofia Loren.

DON’T expect to see Lindsay Lohan on the cover of Vogue any time soon. Lohan annoyed Vogue editrix Anna Wintour Monday night as a guest at Wintour’s table at the CFDA awards because, she “got up to use the bathroom to powder her nose six times in two hours,” said our spy. During the last trip, Wintour leaned over and whispered to a Vogue staffer: “Tell her, if she gets up one more time, she will never be invited to one of my events again.” Lohan’s date, Karl Lagerfeld, was then told, “Karl, this is your guest, control her!” A rep for Wintour said, “Anna was definitely surprised at how busy Lindsay was, but she offered no threat.”
Vogue editor Anna Wintour and British pop icon Malcolm McLaren won’t likely be riding in the same elevator any time soon. According to The New York Daily News, Wintour neglected to invite the mastermind behind the punk rock group The Sex Pistols to her “Anglomania” gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art last night. McLaren and ex-wife, fashion designer Vivian Westwood were the creators of more than 20 vintage punk era outfits which were on display at the fund-raising gala, but McLaren didn’t even receive word of the event until last weekend.
Mclaren’s office brought the oversight to the attention of Wintour and the event organizers who assured the 60 year rocker he would have a seat at the evening’s star-studded dinner, but shortly thereafter a MET staff member informed Mclaren he was no longer invited.
A spokeswoman for the Met stated the fund-raiser had been “sold out for months” and a table for McLaren would be impossible to acquire. An outraged Mclaren commented on Wintour and the event organizers, issuing a statement saying “It’s not gracious, its not elegant, it’s not polite and it’s a kind of an attack upon the artists themselves!”
Just two days after PETA plastered bathrooms at Vogue editor Anna Wintour’s favorite haunts with stickers calling her a “fur hag,” the animal rights activists are said to be planning an assault on her staff in the form of Christmas cards.
The anti-fur organization is planning to mail festive cards to the magazine’s staff containing an illustration of an emaciated Wintour in her underwear with a message scrawled inside which reads: “Without Fur I Am Nothing.”
